Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient art of healing or, better expressed, an art of living which can be practiced by anyone. Simply by placing your hands on specific zones of your body - the safety energy locks - it is possible to balance disharmony. This is something we often do instinctively when we place our hands on a part of our body which hurts.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is therefore intuitive knowledge and it is certainly one of the most primal and effortless healing methods working with body energy. The hands are simply placed on the body: there is no need to remove any clothes and no pressure, massage or physical effort is involved. That is why Jin Shin Jyutsu can easily be integrated into everyday life: in the train, the cinema, the concert hall or theatre, in front of the television or in waiting rooms. The possibilities are endless.

By placing our hands on our body, we can keep our energy system flowing, allowing the harmonization of body, mind and spirit. This causes the body to regenerate itself. The aim of every Jin Shin Jyutsu application is to achieve perfect harmony. All oriental healing methods are based on the premise that the body is an intricate network of energy paths (meridians) which link up and interact with all processes in the body.

The safety energy locks within this system act like sluice gates in a river or fuses in an electric circuit. At the same time, they are also the areas where we can use our hands to restore the flow of energy. There are records of the existence of Jin Shin Jyutsu long before Christ. This healing method was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century by Jiro Murai in Japan. He shared his knowledge with Mary Burmeister, who brought this ancient art to the US. The Jin Shin Jyutsu we practice today is based on her studies, notations and teaching.

There are several different ways of getting to know and apply the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu. One possibility is to attend self-help courses, where you will learn about the importance of the safety energy locks and the flow of energy. Practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu daily will help us to consciously choose and apply our techniques. That is to say, we learn to listen to ourselves and our own intuition. On the other hand, depending on your own personal situation, it may be preferable to consult an experienced professional practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu who will be able to identify the needs of your body for harmonization. He or she will apply one or more techniques that will get you off to a good start for your future application of Jin Shin Jyutsu.
